Los Alamitos Ra

Los Alamitos Race to be hosted at Los Alamitos Race Course is conducted by Los Alamitos Race Course, a horse racing track located in Cypress, California, United States. It was founded in 1951 under the direction of Charles Strub, who had previously helped run Santa Anita Park in Arcadia. The main event of the tournament is the Los Alamitos Derby, a Grade II stakes race for three-year-old Quarter Horses that is run over a distance of 400 yards. Several stakes races are for American Quarter Horses. Los Alamitos Race Course opened with a one-mile dirt oval, but in 1959, the oval was shortened to seven furlongs to cater to Quarter Horses, and the old starting gate is now a historical landmark in the middle of the track's infield. In 2008, Los Alamitos began offering racing simulcasts of races held at other Quarter Horse tracks in the state.
